Solid woods:
1. To wipe and to map immediately any liquid
2. If your furniture has been wax thermo polished according to the rules of the art, it is absolutely useless and counterproductive to polish it each six months. For day to day maintenance, it is sufficient to vigorously rubber the furniture with a woollen rag.
3. After several years, if you wish to polish it again, please exclusively use a natural beeswax and only in thin layer.
4. Never use modern cleaning products which hinder the wood breathing.
5. Do not load your furniture with too weighty items (earthenware, china, books, documents,...)
6. Correctly close the doors to avoid their twisting.
7. In case of moving, please do not hesitate to ask a restorer to dismantle and to reassemble your valuable furniture.
Veneers and marquetry :
1. To wipe and to map immediately any liquid
2. If your furniture has received a French polish, according to the rules of the art, a simple chamois leather, slightly damp is sufficient for the day to day maintenance.
3. After several years, if you wish to brighten up the French polish, do not hesitate to ask us to come to oil it again.
4. Never use modern cleaning products which are spreading a silicone film.
5. Please interpose a protection (felt, leather, fabric,...) between any item and the French polished surface.
6. Always use an undercloth (a pad) but make sure that it is correctly laid down, it means the gaffed side above and the smooth side under. Ideally introduce a used and unstarched cotton cloth between the pad and the French polished surface.
Earthenware and China If one of your beloved object breaks :
1. Carefully pick up all the pieces, even the smallest ones,
2. Separately wrap each piece in a piece of newspaper or tissue paper and gather them in a (shoe) box.
3. Preserve the breaks intact and clean
4. In no case, try to reassemble (even in order to prove yourself that no piece is missing) any trial would be detrimental to their engagement each other.
5. Never undertake any sticking.
The experience shows that a ceramic will be perfectly restored only if the breaks are absolutely free from glue and free from any attempt.
